  1. I too have only had excellent service from Ikhambi. They replaced an old rflkt that failed. Ah, the RFLKT, remember them? I still have 2 of these which used to repeat ride information from your iPhone. Bought 2 Elemnt Bolt V1's to replace the RFLKT and will need to shortly look to replace the Bolts although they work perfectly.
  2. The Gauteng Vintage and Classic Bicycle Club will be displaying a couple of bikes so do come and say hi. Please contact me should you have a post WWII, 1950's bike you would like to include in the display.
  3. Glad you were able to make use of the frame.
  4. I have this Bianchi alu/carbon rear frame available to anyone wanting a restoration project or salvage the head badge, dropouts or rear triangle. It measures 56cm centre to centre but I would say closer to 57cm.
  5. I did not do a factory reset. My Bolt is working perfectly, my wife's too. I did however switch off my bluetooth on my phone after the firmware update for a few seconds before turning it back on again.
  6. My Elemnt Bolt worked perfectly and in fact was sharper than I remember previously. Uploaded my ride to Strava within seconds of stopping.
  7. It looks like the Elemnt, Bolt and Roam V1's have now had firmware updates. Happy to be riding in 2025 again 😎
  8. I too have refused to use bike hub pay. After rushing to post off an item I couldn't be bothered to wait for a seller to OK the transaction and then have to wait a few days for the money to be transferred into my account. I offer a 100% refund on all items I sell excluding the cost of postage. I have never had a problem and only lost one or two sales over the years.
  9. Parts of my ride downloaded but lost most of the data was lost. I first noticed a problem when the unit kept auto pausing. A very loud paused buzzing sound came on and went on for almost a minute after I stopped at a traffic light. Initially I thought the vehicle next to me had somehow jammed my phone/unit. Thereafter no km/h readings where showing. I shut off the unit and restarted the ride but the issues continued. I haven't tried to use the unit since and hopefully a firmware update will be issued soon.
  10. Here is a quick heads up to what some of you may have experienced on your Sunday morning ride! Let us hope Wahoo issue a firmware update soon. https://www.dcrainmaker.com/2025/08/wahoo-bolt-roam-v1-gps-units-reset-20-years-back-become-unusuable.html?fbclid=IwY2xjawMRAypleHRuA2FlbQIxMABicmlkETFldTYxU2tPWE12NW90UnphAR44g1UigE2D7zkvAaZGSuWoGU5p6lCG50H97WAeiOl6Tt5zUlD1ypObr1Roww_aem_GhXOFnOLtShm_aDCvYIQ3Q Please, this is not a thread for haters, but an information thread.
  11. Hi Shane, you should get between R1,500 to R2,000 for the bike
  12. Numerous potholes along this road also add to vehicles swerving into the emergency (cycle) lane. Someone should set the overgrown grass alight to increase visibility.
  13. I hear what everyone is saying about it being a difficult sellers market but I can assure you it is as difficult trying to buy a second hand MTB at the moment. I am looking for a XS/S MTB for my wife and there is limited options available.
  14. It is about time that the government flattened the mountain creating space for additional housing. They could use excavated rock and soil to raise the Cape Flats to obviate future flooding. Spending millions every few months for the benefit of a couple of rich folk just doesn't make sense.
  15. Long chance but anyone have a L left Shimano PD M624 pedal laying about?
  16. Hi Colleen, I lived on the tropics for a number of years and found that it helped if I applied sunscreen at least an hour or two before I went outside. In fact I still apply sunscreen after showering and brushing my teeth each morning, 365 days a year. After a early morning ride I would apply another layer for the day.
  17. Hi, my son had an accident awhile back and damaged his Thule righthand side (rear) foot clamp. Thule only sell all four foot clamps and the full KIT. I am hoping someone may have a spare foot clamp (part number 754/480) and the rubber seat/bumper (part number 328 KIT 1812). I am willing to pay for the clamp and bumper. Many thanks IMG_0652.HEIC IMG_0653.HEIC IMG_0654.HEIC IMG_0655.HEIC
  18. These are the ones but any old style slotted cleat will work.
  19. IMHO, between R2,000 to R2,500
  20. I agree totally with you Jan. This requires SA motorists and cyclists use EQ when we know that commodity is unfortunately sadly absent.
  21. Both I would guess based upon my experience and conversations with cycling friends in CT. My wife and I ride through Sandton/Johannesburg often through the month, mainly early mornings before the traffic and have never felt unsafe. I was robbed on the Spruit a few weeks ago so I would not recommend you use a MTB or gravel bike along the route without having some first hand knowledge from a reliable source as to where the hotspots are. There are a couple of cyclists that travel north along Rivonia Road in the mornings (I normally travel south) and you will encounter riders in Bryanston all the time. You need to be more careful on the return trip due to traffic.
  22. I too live in Rivonia and second what Roneblack46 suggested. We often use these routes over the weekend at these times and recommend you use bright lights until you start the ride at Engen. Watch out at traffic lights and stop streets as the majority of motor vehicles don't obey the law, especially as you speed along the downhills and travel through the crossings. As safe, if not safer than Cape Town.
  23. Quick update. I have found a NOS pair of ST5500/ST6500 and hope to have stock of reproduction hoods available from mid October! DM to place an order.
  24. To give you an idea of what I need these for: https://bikehub.co.za/classifieds/item/vintage-components/612493/reproduction-brake-lever-hoods
